Four Trends in Celebrity Eyewear

1. Frames Are Shrinking

Remember looking at Nicole Richie a few years ago and wondering if her head might just turn into a giant pair of sunglasses? (It came pretty close.)

Nicole Richie in Oversized Prada Sunglasses

Well, it looks like that trend is finally reversing itself, as we've begun noticing smaller and smaller frames on our favorite celebs' faces. Even Nicole looks to have moved past her giant-sunglasses phase and has recently been seen with more modest shades.

Nicole Richie in Wayfarer Style Sunglasses

It looks like giant frames may be a thing of the past, although we're not quite ready to call it yet. A trend that big (get it?) doesn't go away quietly.

2. The Return of the Horn-Rim

One trend we know is officially on, is the return of horn-rim glasses. These frames, first made popular in the '60's are popping up everywhere. Men, women, athletes, actors – you can't look anywhere without seeing a pair.

Horn-Rimmed Glasses - Alicia Keys, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jennifer Aniston

Our prediction for 2012 is that we'll see a greater variety of styles. Right now, horn-rimmed glasses mostly come in black and tortoise, and are generally a standard size. But soon, we bet they'll come in all kinds of colors and sizes as designers push the envelope.

3. Aviators Remain Cool

The undeniable cool of the aviator is one of the few constants in American fashion. Made iconic in Top Gun, and still stylish nearly 30 years later, the aviator has proven its staying power. Modern-day celebs love them. Mila Kunis' style sense dictates almost non-stop wear, in fact. She even wears them to the gym!

4. Colors Are In

Finally, as foreshadowed earlier, we think color sunglasses are bound to take a big leap in popularity in 2012. Red, blue, yellow – celebs aren't ones to be bashful! And they can only wear those black and tortoise shades for so long before they feel the urge to become more adventurous.

So there you have it, four big trends in eyewear. Are your eyes ready?

Alonso in Oakley Sunglasses at Malaysian GP 2012 - SelectSpecs

Former double Formula One World Champion Fernando Alonso was seen wearing these cool Oakley Sunglasses at the Malaysian GP last weekend during interviews and while walking around the paddock.  Alonso and his Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa were expected to struggle this weekend after their poor pre-season testing and general lack of performance in Melbourne, Australia.

But the Ferrari team were over the moon after Alonso pulled off a surprising victory in rainy conditions, which were bad enough to red-flag the race after only 9 laps of racing.  When the race resumed, and after a round of pits stops, the Ferrari driver held a genuine lead, but the race win was never certain, for Sauber driver Sergio Perez was driving the race of his life in second place.  The mexican driver was catching Alonso at an incredible rate, bagging fastest lap after fastest lap.  It was a nail-biting second half to the race, as Perez eventually caught-up to the back of Alonso's Ferrari and looked set to take his first GP win.

Sadly it was not to be and Perez ran wide at the difficult penultimate corner giving Alonso just enough margin to win the race in a less-than perfect car.  Perez came home in a well deserved second place making him the first Mexican to stand on the podium in 41 years.

Oakley Team GB Sunglasses for the London 2012 Olympic Games

There are some pretty big events on the calendar for the year 2012, not least The Queen's Diamond Jubilee, some mega comic book movies (Avengers Assemble, The Amazing Spider-Man, Dark Knight Rises) and the end of the world in December, but for me the real highlight of 2012 has to be the Olympic Games in London.  I'm just waiting for my tickets to arrive for the 400m finals, it's going to be awesome.

If you're lucky enough to be going to the games just like me, you might want to consider picking up a Union Jack to wave from the stands and a pair of Limited Edition Team GB Oakley Sunglasses.

Team GB Radar Path

Oakley Team GB Radar Path Sunglasses – London 2012 Olympic Games Limited Edition.

These Oakley Radar Path Team GB sunglasses feature the dark blue colour of our favourite athlete's kits with red ear socks, Red Iridium lenses and the Union Jack in the Oakley Icon on the temples.  They also come with a Team GB branded soft cloth bag to store them in when not in use.  Me want!!!

Team GB Flak Jacket XLJ

Oakley Team GB Flak Jacket XLJ London 2012 Olympic Sunglasses from SelectSpecs

Oakley Team GB Flak Jacket XLJ Sunglasses – London 2012 Olympic Games Limited Edition.

The lightweight Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ Team GB sunglasses, also have the blue of our athlete's team colours, but this time have white highlights on the temples and ear socks.  These feature grey polarized lenses, so will block out any glare from reflective surfaces such as water if watching rowing or sailing events, or just after some light rain has fallen on the race track.  Just like the Radar Path, these also feature the Union Jack Oakley Icon and the Team GB branded soft cloth bag to store them in when you're not wearing them… which for me would never.

I'll take both of these sunglasses please.

As we move ever closer to the release date of James Bond: Skyfall the more movie set pictures we begin to see from the media and fans close to the filming action (we actually caught some of the filming for Die another Day at Manston Airport, Kent back in 2002!).  We reported back in December 2011 that Daniel Craig would be kitted out in Tom Ford clothing and accessories, now thanks to the media and fans we can see what Tom Ford sunglasses James Bond will be wearing in Skyfall.

Maui Jim Sunglasses Available In-Store at SelectSpecs

Top Hawaiian sunglasses brand Maui Jim are now available In-Store at SelectSpecs.  Maui Jim sunglasses really do have to be seen to be believed; it's true what they say – "Not all sunglasses are the same".  The difference between a cheap pair of sunglasses from the local supermarket and Maui Jim's is clear as soon as you pick them up.  Take a look through the PolarizedPlus2 Lenses and you literally won't believe your eyes.

Some designer sunglasses brands sit firmly in the fashion corner of the market – not that there's anything wrong with that… Maui Jim on the other hand puts technology first, thankfully they're fashionable too, but the real selling point for the Maui Jim brand is it's emphasis on technology.

Every pair of Maui Jim sunglasses features the PolarizedPlus2 9-layer lens technology which wipes outs 99.9% of glare – you know the kind that blinds you when you turn a corner while driving and the sun reflects from a shiny surface leaving you squinting and hoping that you're still driving in the right direction.  PolarizedPlus2 lenses also block out 100% of harmful UV rays and amazingly for sunglasses, actually boost colour – while most other brands of sunglasses will just make everything look darker.

Take a look at this video and see for yourself.

New Oakley Sunglasses 2012

Anyone who wears sunglasses – so everyone then – has heard of Oakley.  It goes without saying that Oakley Sunglasses are one of the biggest brands on the market, and way up there in the popularity stakes with Ray-Ban, Police Sunglasses, Maui Jim and the best of the best.

This week we completed a major update to our Oakley sunglasses selection, so if you're looking for something cool, or a bit sporty then make sure you check out our full collection of Men's or Oakley Women's sunglasses, because we have some real quality pieces to choose from.  And don't forget, you can always pop into our store and see what we have there for you to try on in person.

Lets take a look at some of the new additions.

Limited Edition Max Fear Light Oakley Scalpel

This is a great looking pair of sunglasses and suits just about any face, in fact I'm very tempted to go for these myself in the Ducati Edition, or maybe even the Casey Stoner MotoGP Edition – since he's just announced his retirement from the sport, that could make them quite the sought-after pair of collectable sunglasses, no doubt set to increase in value!

Oakley Blender

These Oakley Blender sunglasses a quite nice, especially if you want something a bit more low-profile.

Oakley Deviation

These are ideal if you want to make a lasting impression or a statement with their large square design.

Oakley Half Jacket 2.0 XL

These new semi-rimless sporting sunglasses from the Half Jacket family are similar to the popular Oakley Flak Jacket sunglasses.  The XL version of these sunglasses feature slightly larger lenses to give better coverage and protection for those who demand it.

The ones pictured above feature photochromic lenses, making them great for activities like cycling or golf, where you don't want to change your lenses every time a cloud rolls in-front of the sun or if your cycling into the shade or woodlands.

Oakley Twenty

There's something about the curves of this wraparound frame that I just love.

Oakley Racing Jacket

These sporty wraparound frames feature a similar design to the Oakley Jawbone and Oakley Wind Jacket with a hinge at the bottom of the frame, that allows you to easily swap out the lenses at a moment's notice for different lighting conditions or uses.  Very handy.

Oakley Radarlock Path

Now these are very cool, similar to the Radar Path, but with the added feature of Switchlock Technology allowing you to easily pop out the shield lens and replace it with another at a moment's notice for suit the changing conditions of the day.

Also available are the Radarlock Pitch, with the same great technology in a slightly different shape lens.

Valentino Rossi Signature Series Oakley Jupiter Squared

Rossi fans, this one is for you, end of discussion.  The Jupiter Squared Sunglasses are proving very popular lately and have also been worn by Ferrari F1 driver Fernando Alonso recently.

Rossi Signature Series Oakley Holbrook

Alternatively, Valentino Rossi fans who are perhaps a little more reserved may like these Holbrook sunglasses instead.

Dario Franchitti Wins 2012 Indy 500

Scottish racing driver Dario Franchitti won the Indianapolis 500 for the third time in his career last night in what proved to be an exciting and incredibly emotional race.  With a record 35 lead-changes during the race, it was the most closely fought race in Indianapolis history.

The Indy 500 is one of the biggest events events in motorsport dating back to 1911 and always draws massive crowds – it is said to be the biggest single-day sporting event in the world in terms of spectator attendance.  British drivers have had great success at the Indy 500 winning 5 of the last 8 races, and with Dario's win yesterday British drivers have won the last three years in a row.

Dario Franchitti - Winner of 2012 Indy 500

Franchitti dedicated his win to the late British driver Dan Wheldon, who won the race last year, but was tragically killed in the final race of the season in Las Vegas last year.  Dario said:

“The emotion any time is incredible here, but the emotion of coming here and celebrating Dan (Wheldon) – and seeing what he did last year, and the reaction of the fans from him, is even more incredible. I want to dedicate this to Dan. He was looking out for us today.”

Dario Franchitti is the most successful British driver in U.S. open-wheel history and a fine example of everything a sports person should be, he is a perfect gentlemen and an ambassador for both our nation and motor racing in general.  Give this guy the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award already!!!

Dario wore Oakley sunglasses to accept his trophy and the traditional bottle of milk for winning the race (pictured above).  He was also seen wearing Oakley Holbrook sunglasses before the race (below).

Dario Franchitti 2012

I thought this picture of Dario and wife Ashley Judd with teammate Scott Dixon and his wife Emma Davies was great, so I had to include it below.  Check out the dog.

Ray-Ban RB2140-1115 London Print Edition (Side 2) from SelectSpecs.com

The classic Ray-Ban Original Wayfarer is one of those iconic sunglasses that everyone recognises and probably half of us even own a pair.  Ray-Ban have always maintained this classic frame in its traditional black as part of their collection, but this is one of those great frames that looks good in any colour.  As such, there are numerous options available.

But it's the Rare Print Editions that that are the real gems to seek out.  These rare prints are limited in quantity and only available for a short time, making them an essential part of anyone's sunglasses collection.

Just looking out of the office window late on Friday afternoon, it's clear that everyone is winding down for the weekend, but best of all – it's a long weekend and the bunting is out along with the Union Jacks… there must be something going on this weekend, but I can't for the life of me think what it is.  <goes off to search the Internet> Oh that' s right – the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

These London Print Wayfarer's would be perfect to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee – or for that matter, the London Olympics later this summer.

The detail on these frames is incredible.  There are a couple of different patterns and the frame is also available in other popular colours with the print on the inside which is a nice touch actually.

Enjoy these pictures, and if you want to pick up a pair in time for the Olympics you can find them here, but I suggest you hurry – these are limited after all.

Frame of the Year 2012 - Superdry 'Officer' from SelectSpecs.com

SelectSpecs.com are now proud sellers of Superdry Eyewear, including the recent winner of the Frames of the Year Award 2012 at the Optician Awards held at Hilton Park Lane, London.

The awesome 'Officer' frame by Superdry beat off all the competition from much bigger rivals in the eyewear market to be announced the winner in the landmark event in the optical calendar, this year marks the 15th year of celebrating excellence within the industry.

It's an impressive achievement for the trendy Superdry brand who only entered the eyewear marketplace last year.  The winning frame is one of their first models to be released, which shows that this is a brand that will no doubt go from strength to strength and is likely to be a big player in the future of the eyewear marketplace.

The Officer glasses by Superdry is a heavy-duty retro-inspired acetate frame with a square front; the frame is complemented with luxury hand-fitted leather temples – the same used in Superdry's own premium leather goods.  It also features intricate details such as laser engraving on the top of the brow and tough 7-barrel hinges.

Superdry Optical

Other Superdry prescription glasses frames available in the collection are just as eye-catching.

This Depp model is unashamedly named after actor Johnny Depp and is clearly very similar the the actor's normal choice of eyewear.

The bold Jetstar model is available in many cool colour options and likely to be very popular.

We like the strong metal arms on this Riley frame, there's something almost industrial about them.

These Semi-Rimless Navigator glasses look really cool, there's something of a geek chic feel to them, which is all the rage these days.

As is the standard with SelectSpecs, all our Superdry prescription glasses include: -

  • FREE Standard prescription lenses
  • FREE Anti-Reflection treatment
  • FREE Scratch Resistant coating
  • FREE UV Protection

Superdry Sunglasses

The Superdry Sunglasses collection is essentially made up of the same frames as the optical collection, but feature tinted sun lenses.  As such, they are all suitable for prescription sunglasses lenses.

Honor.rx Superdry sunglasses is definitely one for the ladies.

I reckon the Brando.rx sunglasses will fly off the shelf.

These Harper.rx sunglasses have got something of a Clubmaster vibe going on.

Or why not give the "Frames of the Year 2012" – the Superdry Officer a whirl in their sunglasses form.

Janko Tipsarevic - Wearing Oakley Fast Jacket at Wimbledon - 2012

It's strawberries and cream time again and finally the sun has made an appearance this Summer, just in time for Wimbledon 2012 ("Come on Tim… I mean Andy").  If you've been following our blog for some time, you will know we are pretty big sports fans in the SelectSpecs Towers.  We've even made a few train trips to SW19 ourselves to catch a bit of the tennis in person.

Janko Tipsarevic - Wearing Oakley Fast Jacket at Wimbledon - 2012

Obviously we'll be supporting all our British hopefuls, although sadly, just like the football last night a few have already fallen by the wayside :(   Hopefully Heather Watson should do well later today in her first round match, and of course Andy Murray will be playing tomorrow – but he has been given a tough draw this year.

Janko Tipsarevic is another player we'll be watching closely this year.  The number 8 seed from Serbia is one of only a handful of players who regularly play in sunglasses.  See what we did there?

Janko Tipsarevic - Wearing Oakley Fast Jacket at Wimbledon - 2012

Tipsarevic has already completed his first round match beating David Nalbandian in straight sets while wearing his trademark Oakley sunglasses.  Nalbandian of course recently got himself disqualified from the Aegon Championships Final against Marin Cilic when he kicked an advertising board and injured a line judge.

Janko Tipsarevic - Wearing Oakley Fast Jacket at Wimbledon - 2012

Oakley Fast Jacket XL Sunglasses

The sunglasses worn by Janko Tipsarevic on court today were these Oakley Fast Jacket XL sunglasses (with the slightly larger lenses) in colour option 915610 – Polished White with Photochromic lenses, ideal for the changing conditions out on court.

The Fast Jacket is Oakley's top of the line sport performance sunglasses designed for elite athletes.  The frame features Oakley's famous Switchlock technology allowing you to easily switch out the lenses at a moment's notice should the conditions change.

This Summer Accessorize Yourself!

Summer is here at last.  When it comes to fashion, we need to think one step ahead of the game in order to make a statement. Let’s take a look at some summer bling: diamond sunglasses!

There are diamond shoes, bags, and belts, so why not diamond sunglasses? Looking for alternative ‘statement jewelry,’ that really stands out from the crowd? Grab a hold of a nice pink, blue or yellow diamond and have it set on your accessories!

Some of the most glamorous sunglasses in the market, from Internally Flawless & Co. to Dolce & Gabbana or Chopard. include diamond highlights.  These shades are enough to make your summer sizzle.

Ultra Goliath 2 Diamond Edition – US$25,000

Ultra Goliath 2 Diamond Edition Sunglasses

The Ultra Goliath 2 Diamond Edition sunglasses by Internally Flawless & Co. who collaborated with Vintage Frames Company, are exceptionally unique US$25,000 diamond and gold shades. These custom sunglasses display 2000 round brilliant VS quality diamonds, weighing 15 carats, set onto a 65 gram gold frame. The frame is molded onto a pair of Ultra Goliath 2 sunglasses, one of the Vintage Frame Company’s products.  These sunglasses are available in yellow, white, or red gold and can also be customized with canary diamonds or black diamonds with black gold.

Luxuriator Style23 – US$65,000

Luxuriator Style23 - $65,000

This pair of shades is extraordinary in every possible way, which explains its steep price tag.  From the buffalo ivory temples to the 132 diamonds that adorn the gold frame, these sunglasses most definitely stand out. The highlight of the pair is the 2-carat diamond, which accents the right lens in an unusual yet tasteful way.

Dolce & Gabbana DG2027B – US$383,609

Dolce & Gabbana DG2027B - $383,609

Dolce & Gabbana is not known to disappoint, and their luxurious sunglasses are no exception.  A golden frame surrounds the brown-tinted lenses and the arms display the brand’s logo studded with either white or blue diamonds.  These Dolce & Gabbana DG2027B sunglasses are also available in Silver with black arms here.

Sunglasses are must-have accessories for the summer.  A trendy pair is the perfect way to make a fashion statement.  Designer sunglasses are extremely sought after, but when diamonds are involved, the luxury is taken to a whole new level.  It should come as no surprise then that only a few pairs of the above sunglasses have been sold.

Movies That Wouldn’t Be the Same Without Sunglasses

$

0

"You got your hair combed back and your sunglasses on, baby". This breezy lyric, taken from Don Henley's 1985 song "Boys of Summer" is not only part of a nostalgic tune about love, loss and sunny California, but an ode to Ray-Bans. From hit songs and Parisian runways to blockbuster movies, sunglasses might be our salvation against the UV rays of an August afternoon, but more often than not they are hip and cutting edge fashion statements.

In other words, we want our movie heroes and villains (yes, it's also a Beach Boys reference) to be distinctly stylish and debonair. We want them standing under a palm tree wearing Tom Ford sunglasses, or a wild, rose-tinted pair of Oliver Peoples 523. If those heroes and villains aren't stylish and debonair in a classic movie star way (think Tom Cruise), then chances are they're wearing a pair of postmodern shades for a futuristic sci-fi or action film. Here are five movies, in no particular order or genre, that wouldn't be the same without sunglasses.

Tom Cruise wears Ray-Ban Avaitor Sunglasses in Top Gun

1. Tom Cruise has been the good-looking poster boy and one-man ad campaign for Ray-Ban sunglasses for most of his career. It’s not just one Tom Cruise film that wouldn't be the same without sunglasses, but three. Cruise debuted his boyish grin and laid-back charm in 1983s "Risky Business" and if there is one thing you can remember about that mediocre movie, other than Tom's famous underwear dance to Bog Seeger, it's the movie poster. Tom, with a pair of black Ray-Ban's on the tip of nose, is seductively gazing out at the viewer. Cruise followed up "Risky Business" with "Top Gun" in 1986, and Maverick, the cocky, young jet fighter stud that Cruise portrays, is seldom seen without his stellar aviator shades. Completing the trifecta, Cruise once again put on the Ray-Bans in "Mission Impossible".

The Matrix - Neo, Trinity and Morpheus in Sunglasses

2. From 1999 to 2003, the "Matrix" trilogy blew our collective minds. By seamlessly blending "Star Wars" style science fiction, Zen mythology and conspiracy theories, the original film was the ideal precursor to new millennium fears and anxieties. However, it was the weightless, Kung Fu action sequences and amped up style that made the film a hit. Sleek leather trench coats and cool sunglasses were the heart and soul of the film. If Morpheus, Trinity or Neo hadn't put on sunglasses, the film wouldn't have been the same.

Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden in Fight Club wearing Sunglasses

3. Just like certain wine vintages, 1999 was a good year for sunglasses in movies. Tyler Durden, played by Brad Pitt in "Fight Club" was fond of rose-tinted Oliver Peoples sunglasses. Tyler Durden had such a unique fashion style that the movie would not be the same without his scuzzy, urban hipness. Part Sid Viscous Sex Pistol, part deranged surfer chic, Tyler Durden is an antihero who gained a cult following. Who says the clothes and sunglasses don't make the man?

Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's with Sunglasses

4. In "Breakfast at Tiffany's" which came out in 1961, Audrey Hepburn wears one of the most iconic pair of sunglasses ever seen on the silver screen. In fact, the character Hepburn plays, Holly Golightly, is nothing if not a cutting edge fashionista. Her little black dress, elegant cigarette holder and oversized, Jackie O inspired sunglasses are timeless.

Arnie in The Terminator wearing Sunglasses

5. Apparently, cyborgs love sunglasses. At least Arnold Swarzenegger did in "The Terminator" his breakout sci-fi role. If you grew up in the 1980s, then you know that these aviator shades sparked a widespread cultural fad. Everyone had to have a pair. It didn't matter if you were a Gordon Gekko style stockbroker on Wall Street, once you left the office you put on your Terminator shades.

"The future's so bright, I gotta' wear shades." Whether you remember the song or not, this 1986 one hit wonder by Timbuk3 is a nice companion piece to Don Henley's "Boys of Summer." It seems the 1980s had some type of monopoly on sunglasses in films and songs. However, if the future is bright, who knows what sort of fashionable sunglasses will show up in the movies of tomorrow.

Pippa Middleton & The Duchess of Cambridge Wear Givenchy Sunglasses at Wimbledon Final – Murray vs. Federer

Catherine Duchess of Cambridge with sister Pippa Middleton wearing Givenchy Sunglasses at Wimbledon Men's Final

Pippa Middleton was lucky enough to get all the perks of being a Royal, without actually being a Royal.  Not only was she seen enjoying the tennis at Wimbledon during the course of the last couple of weeks, but she was privileged enough to also get the best seats in the house – the front row of the Royal Box, right next to sister Kate – The Duchess of Cambridge.

Catherine and Pippa attending the Wimbledon 2012 Mens finals

The sisters were lucky enough to enjoy the historic final between Roger Federer and Andy Murray – the first time a British man had reached the final in 74 Years.

The match started in bright sunlight and both Pippa and Kate wore their stylish Givenchy Sunglasses to see Murray win the first set.

Kate Middleton at Wimbledon Wearing Givenchy Sunglasses

The Duchess of Cambridge (above) is not often seen wearing sunglasses out in public and in fact it seems as though she may have borrowed these Givenchy SGV773 sunglasses from her sister Pippa, who had been seen wearing these exact same sunglasses earlier during The Championships (below).

Pippa Middleton at Wimbledon (day 4) Wearing Givenchy Sunglasses

Sadly the sunglasses were not needed for the whole match (unless your name is Victoria Beckham) as the rain came and the roof was closed during the third set and for the remainder of the match.  Federer went on to seal his fate, winning for the 7th time and breaking all records in the process as well as returning to his spot as World Number One.

But we are very proud of our plucky Brit Andy Murray, who won the hearts of the nation, especially with his emotional speech.  After all, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it and we'd be winning every year.

Victoria Beckham BORED - at Wimbledon Men's Final 2012

Have you ever seen anyone looking more bored?  Victoria Beckham ("wot wot") apparently had no interest what so ever in the Wimbledon Men's Final between Andy Murray and Roger Federer on Sunday.  Husband David Beckham on the other hand seem to be having a great time enjoying the tennis, laughing and smiling throughout the match.

Victoria Beckham was clinging to her man like a wet shower curtain during the course of the match and seemed to only be there to promote her own brand of fashion sunglasses and/or clothing.  Even when the rain came during the third set and the roof was closed for the rest of the day she kept her oversized sunglasses firmly attached to her face – probably so no-one could see her dozing off through lack-of-interest.

It's Business Darling

Victoria Beckham was clearly present at the Men's Final for business and PR reasons only.  She had apparently loaned Andy Murray's girlfriend – the lovely Kim Sears a £300 pair of her own aviator sunglasses from the VB Collection to model – knowing that television camera's would be watching Kim's reactions throughout the match.

Kim Sears is fast becoming the nations most well known girlfriend (of sorts) off the back of Wimbledon.  Andy Murray's biggest fan (and girlfriend) has become something of a fashion icon of late.  The world's television cameras were pointed at Kim throughout The Championships as she supported Britain's Andy Murray on his way to an historic Wimbledon Men's Final against Roger Federer.

Apparently demand for the outfit she wore during the final has been incredible with people asking for "The Kim Sears Look".  Her fashion sense this year has put her way ahead even of Victoria Beckham, The Duchess of Cambridge or Pippa Middleton.

Victoria Beckham may have looked bored during the final, but she is a clever business woman, for she knew that all eyes would be on Kim Sears; Victoria Beckham had apparently loaned Kim a £300 pair of aviator sunglasses from her own VB Collection to wear during the match.

Going back to our blog post from 2009, it's clear that Kim is normally a big fan of Ray-Ban sunglasses and is usually seen wearing large aviators or the occasional Ray-Ban Wayfarer.  Take a look at some of these fashionable frames she has sported in the last couple of years on tour.

At the US-Open she wore these huge aviator sunglasses with mirrored lenses – not a look everyone can pull-off, but Kim Sears does it with ease – such is the fashion icon she is now.  That said, it's a shame to hide those beautiful blue eyes of hers.

Fashion Queen Katy Perry in Prada PR61OS Sunglasses during Paris Fashion Week

Katy Perry is a bit of a fashion icon in our eyes, she is often seen wearing many different styles of glasses or sunglasses both in her music videos and in everyday life. She's also one of those very lucky people who looks good in anything (don't you just hate those people)… Katy Perry is not afraid to try all kinds of styles of glasses including Wayfarer's and Clubmasters, but she seems to be owning the Cat's Eye styles all to herself – and why not, she looks great in them.

Lately, we've noticed a bit of an trend in a certain model of Prada sunglasses. I've spotted a few people out and about wearing this model as well as celebrity movie stars such as Dakota Fanning. Could this be a trend started by Fashion Queen Katy Perry earlier this year at the 2012 Paris Fashion Week?

During Paris Fashion Week, Katy Perry was spotted on multiple occasions, at various parties and fashion shows and every time she was wearing something different, even down to the sunglasses. Here (above) she was seen wearing a pale blue long satin coat, pleated pink dress and and striking long blue ponytail at the Miu Miu Fashion Show in April 2012. We thought her choice of Prada sunglasses here were perfect for the outfit she was wearing at the time.

Same Sunglasses, different clothes – Dakota Fanning obviously loves her Prada sunnies; most other celebrities including Katy Perry refuse to be seen more than once wearing the same pair of sunglasses, but Dakota is more than happy to wear hers with any outfit… and why not.

Okay, some of her outfits are a bit hit-and-miss, but these Prada Sunglasses are a scene stealer – much like Dakota Fanning's incredible breakthrough performance in I Am Sam at only 7 years old.
